Towards the end of last year we revealed the completion of St Kevin's Chapel. We are incredibly excited and eager to now announce that its Stainglass Window is now, too, complete!
Located on the College’s Heyington Senior Campus, St Kevin's Chapel sits above the ‘Ruby Tout’ Theatre and looks down upon the Yarra River. Whilst being a centre for prayer and worship, it is also considered the heart of the school community as a place to come together.
The new extension required the demolition of the northern end of the existing chapel and construction on top of an existing courtyard. When entering the Chapel, one will instantly be drawn to the new 6m high northern glazed façade with the dramatic raking of the ceiling towards this “glowing end” featuring white opaque glass transitioning to clear curved glass and finally to a beautiful stain glass window depicting St Kevin of which the Chapel is named after. The unique shape of the floor plan helps direct ones’ attention to this glowing wall. The extension also cleverly hides a new sacristy and office behind the curved rendered wall.
Many thanks to the people at Adadaz Leadlight for creating this magnifiscent piece.
