Melbourne architecture firm Baldasso Cortese has been chosen to design the $2.41 million upgrade of Chilwell Primary School.
The funding was announced as part of a $19.28 million investment in Geelong schools in the 2017-18 state budget.
The upgrade is expected to modernise facilities and classrooms at the 140-year-old Newtown school.
Baldasso Cortese has worked on education, care, commercial and residential projects in the Geelong and Surf Coast region.
Geelong MP Christine Couzens said Chilwell PS deserved to be supported by “state-of-the-are facilities”.
“Chilwell Primary School has fantastic staff and students – the students receive a first rate education, the Government is ensuring they have the first rate state-of-the-art facilities to match,” Ms Couzens said.
“Appointing the architect is an exciting first step.”
Other school funding projects include $2.84 million for Ashby PS in Geelong West, $3.22 million for Leopold PS and $211,000 for Queenscliff PS.
